The Great Lakes take on many colors depending on the day. With enough sun, the water is a brilliant teal.

Here’s a scene from the southern end of Highway 61 along Lake Superior. We stopped along Highway 61 to take photos.
The shore looks so wild along this drive, even when the stopping point is a resort or just a few feet away from the highway. The whole trip was wild because our destination was the Boundary Waters for some paddling. We camped in tall grass out in the middle of nowhere next to a small lake, woke up to moose in the lake, and heard wolves howling in the distance at night. It was pitch black out there. Wild.
