Straight Fusing

I’m trying something new with straight lines – fusing instead of sewing. Here’s a 9 x 7 inch “block” of the project.

straight line fused

These are cotton pieces attached to a sheer cotton base. I drew out my straight line pattern for this art quilt and realized the pieces were so tiny that I didn’t want to try piecing it because it would create too many lumpy seams.  I am fusing the pieces edge to edge and I don’t think I will mind if it ends up looking cracked if the base fabric shows through.

As you can see, cheating abounds. I didn’t bother to cut individual pieces where I could combine ones with the same fabric once I got the pattern onto freezer paper. My adventure continues as I decide how to finish it.
